Ferrin, Beckett-Simms named USTFCCCA All-Americans

NEW ORLEANS – The United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association released the organization's 2018 NCAA Division III Outdoor Track & Field All-Americans on Wednesday and Salisbury University had two athletes recognized by the organization as Duncan Ferrin and Donovan Beckett-Simms were named to the list of honorees.

Ferrin, who is earning his first All-American honor, turned in an impressive performance at the 2018 NCAA championships to round out his career in maroon and gold. Ferrin placed third overall in the hammer throw improving one spot from his seed mark of fourth. This is the third postseason accolade for Ferrin as he was named First Team All-Capital Athletic Conference as well as a USTFCCCA All-Region selection earlier this month.

Beckett-Simms, who is also being named an All-American for the first time in his career, turned in a solid performance at the 2018 championships in the triple jump. Beckett-Simms finished sixth overall in the first championships of his career. He was also named to the USTFCCCA All-Region team as well as being named a first team all-CAC selection.

Ferrin and Beckett-Simms become the 59th and 60th All-Americans during Head Coach Jim Jones' tenure while becoming the 74th and 75th All-Americans in Salisbury track & field history.

Student-athletes earn USTFCCCA All-America status by finishing among the top eight of their events, including as a member of a relay team, at the 2018 NCAA Division III Outdoor Track & Field Championships this past weekend in La Crosse, Wisconsin.

On the men's side North Central (Illinois) College led the way with 10. This year's men's national champion University of Mount Union placed nine athletes on the All-American list.
