FREDERICKSBURG, Va. – The Capital Athletic Conference released weekly track and field honors on Tuesday afternoon and Salisbury University had two representatives among the four honorees as Shea McCloskey and Jeffrey McInnis each earned conference recognition.
McCloskey was named the Women's Track Athlete of the Week for her outstanding performance this past weekend at the Eastern Shore Cappy Anderson Invitational hosted by University of Maryland Eastern Shore. McCloskey earned a first-place finish in the 800-meter dash coming home in a time of 2:24.81 to earn the victory. Her time currently stands as a conference best and ranks ninth among all Division III runners.
McInnis was honored as the Men's Field Athlete of the Week after his impressive performance in the long jump this past weekend. McInnis finished second overall in the event posting a jump of 22' 6.5". His jump currently is the ninth-best in the nation and a CAC best thus far this season.
Salisbury returns to action on Sunday, December 9 when it travels to Christopher Newport University to compete in the CNU Holiday Open. The meet is scheduled to start at 9 a.m.
