FREDERICKSBURG, Va. – The Salisbury University women's basketball team was picked to finish fifth in the Capital Athletic Conference preseason poll, which was released on Monday morning.
Defending CAC champion Christopher Newport University, coming off a national semifinal appearance, was the unanimous choice for first place, receiving nine first-place votes and a total of 81 points. The University of Mary Washington edged out Marymount (Va.) University by three points to sit in second place, though the Saints received the final first-place vote.
York College of Pennsylvania tallied 55 points to come in fourth, while Salisbury was not far behind in fifth with 49 points.
The Sea Gulls reached the CAC tournament for a sixth-straight season last year, compiling a 13-13 overall record and 9-9 record in conference play.
Salisbury tips off the season on Wednesday, November 15 at 5 p.m. as the team travels to take on Virginia Wesleyan University.
