DANBURY, Conn. – The Eastern College Athletic Conference announced the players of the week for the week ending February 18, and Salisbury University senior point guard Mary McDonagh was named the South Region Player of the Week.
McDonagh recorded averages of 21.5 points, 5.5 assists, and 4.0 rebounds per game in two wins for Salisbury. She shot 54.2 percent from the field and 9-of-17 from three, good enough for a 52.9 percent mark. The Long Beach, N.Y. native was also a perfect 8-of-8 from the free throw line.
The senior scored 19 points on 7-of-11 shooting from the floor in a 62-50 win at Wesley College. She added three boards and five assists in the victory.
McDonagh followed up her second straight 19-point game with a career-high 24-point performance on Senior Day against Southern Virginia University. She knocked down six three-pointers on 60 percent shooting from beyond the arc to go along with five rebounds and six assists.
The Sea Gulls take on the University of Mary Washington on Tuesday, February 20 at 6 p.m. in the first round of the Capital Athletic Conference playoffs.
