GRAND LAKE, Colo. – The Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association announced its Coach of the Year awards and Salisbury University women's lacrosse Head Coach Jim Nestor was honored as the Chesapeake Region's top coach, the organization announced Monday.
Nestor guided the Sea Gulls to the national championship contest for the fifth time this past season and the team's 10th straight Capital Athletic Conference championship. The women's lacrosse team spent six weeks atop the IWLCA top 20 coaches poll and finished the season ranked No. 2. The team started the season with 22-straight wins, matching a school record for consecutive wins and most wins in a single season.
This is the sixth time that Nestor has been recognized by the IWLCA for his efforts. He was named IWLCA's Chesapeake Region Coach of the Year from 2004-08 and the IWLCA South Atlantic Region Coach of the Year in 2009. He was selected as the 2005 IWLCA Division III Coach of the Year.
In his 11 seasons at the helm, Nestor has a record of 198-24, including a 68-2 mark in the CAC. Including postseason play, the Sea Gulls will head into the 2013 season with an 87-game winning streak against CAC opponents.
