Sea Gulls enter 2017 as No. 5 team in the country

GRAND LAKE, CO. – After earning an 18-3 record and hosting a NCAA tournament regional final game, the three-time national champion Salisbury University women's lacrosse team will look to get back on top, entering the 2017 season as the No. 5 team in the country, according to the Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches' Association Division III Preseason Top 20.

The Sea Gulls bring back a flock of experience that's loaded with talent for the 2017 campaign, including All-American Gabbi Nieves for her senior season, who led Salisbury in scoring in 2016 with 41 goals and nine assists, alongside First-Team All-Region Gianna Falcone, who is back as a defensive blockade in the net for the Gulls. Head Coach Jim Nestor, the winningest coach in CAC history (294 wins), also returns to the helm for Salisbury for his 16th season.

Salisbury will experience a hard-hitting road ahead during this year's drive for supremacy, as it is scheduled to take on six of the top-20 teams in the nation, including three top-ten teams in No. 4 Franklin & Marshall College, No. 7 The College of New Jersey, and No. 10 York College of Pennsylvania.

The Sea Gulls open their season on February 18, as they face off against Stevenson University at Sea Gull Stadium. That game is set for 3:00 p.m.
