GRAND LAKE, Colo. – The Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association released its first Division III Coaches Poll of the regular season on Monday afternoon and Salisbury University climbed three spots into a tie for the No. 6 spot.
Salisbury earned 464 points and one first-place vote following a 2-0 start to the season, including a 13-9 win over No. 14 The Catholic University of America. The Sea Gulls are tied with Capital Athletic Conference rival York College of Pennsylvania at No. 6.
Gettysburg College received 23 of the possible 25 first-place votes and 622 points to remain at No. 1. The College of New Jersey picked up the final first-place vote and 595 points to sit at No. 2, while Trinity (Conn.) College (548 points), Middlebury College (530 points), and William Smith College (491 points) each moved up a spot to round out the top five.
Along with Salisbury and York, two other CAC schools are in the top 25. The University of Mary Washington moved up six spots into a tie for the No. 11 spot after a 3-0 start, and St. Mary's College of Maryland joined the poll at No. 21 after starting the season unranked.
The Sea Gulls will host No. 8 Washington and Lee University on Saturday, March 3 at 1 p.m.
