Wehland named CAC Defensive Player of the Week

FREDERICKSBURG, Va. – The Capital Athletic Conference announced its weekly women's lacrosse awards on Monday and Salisbury University junior Anna Wehland was named the league's Defensive Player of the Week.

Wehland caused seven turnovers and came up with nine groundballs in a 2-0 week for No. 5 Salisbury. She caused four turnovers and scooped up four groundballs in a 14-10 win at No. 23 Rowan University. The junior followed that performance up by causing three more turnovers and coming up with five groundballs in a victory against Washington (Md.) College.

Wehland currently leads the team with 12 caused turnovers on the season, which is good for second in the CAC. Her 14 groundballs are also a team-high and rank her eighth in the conference.

Salisbury returns to action on Tuesday, March 12 against Meredith College. The game is scheduled to start at 7 p.m.
