ARLINGTON, Va. – The Salisbury University women's soccer team earned its second Capital Athletic Conference victory on Saturday with a 3-0 win over Marymount (Va.) University.
The Sea Gulls took control of the game early with a goal from freshman forward Jenna DeLetto. Senior forward Sarah Pfundstein sent a pass to Deletto, who juked the Saint's goalkeeper and planted the ball in the back of the net for the 1-0 lead.
Salisbury took the advantage into halftime, as well as an edge in shots, 6-3, and corner kicks, 2-0.
To open the second half, Salisbury netted two goals in the first six minutes to take a commanding lead.
Senior midfielder Casey Hafford scored just two minutes into the half, in the 47th minute, before assisting Pfundstein in the 51st minute to give the Gulls a 3-0 lead. Pfundstein took a pass from the left side and beat the keeper to cap the scoring for Salisbury.
Salisbury's offense was active throughout the game, taking 16 total shots to Marymount's eight.
Sophomore goalkeeper Michelle Conrad earned the win in the match while making two saves.
The Sea Gulls will be in action again on Tuesday as the team travels to Virginia Wesleyan College; the match is set for 7 p.m.
