SALISBURY, Md. – Salisbury University sophomore Michelle Conrad was named to the CoSIDA Capital One Academic All-District Team for women's soccer, the College Sports Information Directors of America announced.
To be eligible for nomination, a student-athlete must carry a minimum 3.30 grade point average and be a starter or key reserve for his or her team.
The Smithtown, N.Y., native is an accounting major and carries a 3.72 cumulative GPA. Conrad was named the 2011 Capital Athletic Conference Rookie of the Year and has been named CAC Defensive Player of the Week twice during the 2012 season. For her career, she has earned the weekly conference distinction five times.
Conrad has eight complete shutouts this season, giving her 13 for her career. Heading into the conference championship game, Conrad has a 0.75 goals against average and has stopped 62 shots so far this season.
This is not the first time Conrad has been recognized for her academic efforts, as she was named to the 2011 CAC All-Academic Team.
Salisbury is next in action on Saturday, Nov. 3, hosting Frostburg State University in the CAC championship game. That match is scheduled to begin at 1 p.m., at the SU Soccer Complex.
