FREDERICKSBURG, Va. – The Capital Athletic Conference announced its weekly awards for women's soccer on Monday and Salisbury University senior Jamie Tacka was named the league's Defensive Player of the Week.
Tacka led the Sea Gull defense to two CAC shutouts, winning at St. Mary's College of Maryland last Wednesday, 1-0, and picking up a 2-0 win against Penn State University-Harrisburg on Saturday as part of Homecoming.
In the two victories, the opposition was able to attempt just 10 total shots, with only five of those tries on target, all of which were turned away by senior goalkeeper Hope Knussman.
This season, the Sea Gulls have won all four of their CAC games by shutout and rank fourth in the league with an overall team goals-against average of 1.31.
Tacka and the Sea Gulls are back in action on Wednesday, October 11 when they host Marymount (Va.) University at Sea Gull Soccer Stadium beginning at 4 p.m.
