FREDERICKSBURG, Va. – The Capital Athletic Conference announced its weekly awards for women's soccer on Monday afternoon and Salisbury University sophomore forward Brooke Rossiter was named the league's Offensive Player of the Week.
Rossiter helped lead the fifth-seeded Sea Gulls to 3-2 first round victory over fourth-seeded Frostburg State University on Saturday evening. In the win over the Bobcats, Rossiter scored two goals and earned an assist on the third. Her first goal came less than five minutes into the game to put Salisbury on top early. She then assisted on teammate Julianna Boller's goal for the second tally of the match.
Rossiter's second goal was the overtime game winner that sent her team on to the semifinal round of the conference tournament.
Rossiter and the Sea Gulls are back in action on Wednesday, October 31 when they travel to top-seeded Christopher Newport University. The winner will go on to face the winner of second-seeded the University of Mary Washington and sixth-seeded St. Mary's College of Maryland in the CAC championship this Saturday.
