SALISBURY, Md. – The Salisbury University women's tennis team defeated State University of New York at Oneonta on Saturday morning, 9-0, at the Salisbury University Tennis Center.
The Sea Gulls (14-6) earned the first two doubles points in quick fashion, claiming an 8-1 win at No. 2 doubles from Jordan Schaefer and Sydney Soto while Sage Cole and Taylor Cooper picked up an 8-2 win at No. 3 doubles. The final doubles point came from an 8-6 win at No. 1 thanks to Annika Kezman and Julia Kwedi.
Salisbury won the six singles matches all in straight sets with Schaefer earning a 6-0, 6-0 win at No. 4 while Cooper and Shannon Hickman each earned 6-0, 6-1 wins. Cooper did so at No. 3 with Hickman collecting her win at No. 5.
Cole grabbed a 6-2, 6-1 win at No. 6 singles with Kwedi winning 6-2, 6-2 at No. 2 and Kezman taking a 6-2, 6-4 win at No. 1.
The Sea Gulls will conclude their regular season schedule on Sunday, April 22, hosting Harford Community College beginning at noon. Prior to the start of the match, Cole the lone senior on the roster, will be celebrated by the program.
