LEXINGTON, Ky. - The American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) on Tuesday announced its weekly awards and Salisbury University's Carley Todd earned National Player of the Week for the second time in her career.
Todd, a senior setter, this past weekend helped the Sea Gulls go undefeated and win the NYU invitational. In four matches, she totaled of 30 kills, 47 digs and 101 assists. Todd's most impressive performance came in the first match of the season against the State University of New York at New Paltz, as she recorded a triple-double of 11 kills, 27 assists and 22 digs.
The award was given for only the third time in SU history with the other two recipients being Todd (Sept. 27, 2011) and Rachel Downes (Oct. 28, 2008).
The volleyball team is back in action Tuesday at home against Christopher Newport University at 6:30 p.m., in Maggs Physical Activities Center.
