YORK, Pa. – The Capital Athletic Conference announced its weekly volleyball awards on Monday and Salisbury University freshman Ashlyn Tapley was named Player of the Week, the first league award of her career.

Tapley helped Salisbury to four wins in the past week, including three victories and the team title at the Salisbury University Invitational, in which Tapley was named the Most Valuable Player.

The Odenton, Md., native notched 46 kills while hitting .415 in the SU Invitational to go with 20 digs. For the week, in five matches, she had 54 kills and 29 digs.

Tapley is the fourth different Sea Gull to win the award this season, through seven weeks as seniors Chelsea Glowacki, Carley Todd and Kelly Vieira have also earned the honor.

The Sea Gulls will be back in action on Wednesday, hosting Wesley College at Maggs Physical Activities Center. The match is slated to begin at 7 p.m.
