Salisbury vs. McDaniel
The Salisbury University volleyball team had its five-match win streak snapped on Tuesday night, falling to McDaniel College in a thrilling five set match. Freshman, Amanda Chew, led all Sea Gull players with a team-best 17 kills and another team-high .236 hitting percentage. It was Chew’s second straight match with double-digit kills and third match overall this season with double-digit kills. Chew also assisted on the defensive end tallying 15 digs and two blocks to aid in the defensive effort. Gianna Savarese finished the night with her second consecutive double-digit kill performance tallying 11 in the match to finish second-best on the team. Savarese made her presence felt on both sides of the court totaling a team-best six blocks. Carley Cleland was all over the court contributing on both the offensive and defensive side as she totaled 10 kills, a .231 hitting percentage, two digs, and three blocks. It was also Cleland’s second-straight double-digit kill performance. Hailey Dougherty finished the match as one of four players to record double-digit digs on the defensive end posting a team-best 16 digs in the contest. Salisbury returns to action on Wednesday, September 12 when the Sea Gulls take on Wesley College at 6 p.m.
