NEW ORLEANS – The Salisbury University men's and women's cross country teams earned United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) Division III All-Academic status, the organization announced on Wednesday.
The SU men's team posted a team cumulative grade-point average of 3.38 and was one of 131 teams to collect the honor while the women had a 3.44 GPA and were one of 187 teams to collect the accolade.
For a team to be eligible for the USTFCCCA All-Academic team award, the team must have competed and compiled a team score at an NCAA Regional meet. The team must also have a minimum 3.10 cumulative grade point average.
The Salisbury women, on the heels of collecting their eighth Capital Athletic Conference championship, ran to an 11th place finish at the Mideast Regional, out of 47 teams, while the men placed 22nd at the regional meet.
Salisbury was not the only CAC team to earn the honor as St. Mary's (Md.) College (3.27 GPA) and York (Pa.) College (3.36) collected All-Academic status on the men's side. Hood College (3.39), St. Mary's (3.33), the University of Mary Washington (3.13) and York (3.43) also earned the honor on the women's side.
