Spinapont named CAC Athlete of the Week for second time in 2012

YORK, Pa. – The Capital Athletic Conference announced its weekly cross country awards on Tuesday, and, for the second time this season, Salisbury University sophomore Hailey Spinapont was named the Female Athlete of the Week.

Spinapont placed third at last weekend's Frostburg Invitational, covering the six-kilometer course in 24:46.70. On the course which will host the CAC Championships in less than five weeks, six of the league's schools sent teams to the event hosted by Frostburg State University. Spinapont was the top CAC finisher, behind two runners from Gettysburg College.

Spinapont finished nearly 20 seconds ahead of the next-closest CAC competitor. The Parkside High School product has been Salisbury's top runner in each of the team's three meets this season.

Spinapont joins freshman teammate Kyle Tockman, on the men's side, who has also been named the CAC Athlete of the Week twice this year.

The Sea Gulls will be back in action for their final home event of the 2012 season this Saturday, Sept. 29, when they host the Don Cathcart Invitational at Winter Place Park, beginning at 9:45 a.m.
