Men's cross country team places 16th in Mideast Regionals, Van Zeijts leads women's squad

BETHLEHEM, Pa. - The Salisbury University men's and women's cross country teams finished their seasons at the NCAA Division III Mideast Regional Championships hosted by Muhlenberg College. The men's team finished 16th out of 54 teams competing.

Men

Sophomore Thomas Burke paced the Sea Gull effort by covering the 8,000 meters in 26:31, finishing in 76th out of 365 runners. Second-year runner George Martinez also finished in the top 100, in the 98th position, with a time of 26:49.

Senior Nathan Austin finished 112th posting a time of 27:00, with junior Brandon Horning finishing four seconds later to place in 114th.

Junior Jeremy Skarda rounded out the Salisbury scoring, placing 155th with a time of 27:37. Sophomore Eric Wood and senior Joel Anderson finished out Salisbury's top seven runners. Wood took 159th place with a time of 27:40 and Anderson crossed the line in 28:39 in 217th place.

Women

The women's team was represented by four runners, with freshman Anna Van Zeijts leading the way for the Sea Gulls, finishing 138th out of 358 runners with a time of 24:19. Junior Olivia Cloud was the next Salisbury runner to cover the 6,000 meters with a time of 24:45, good for 159th place.

Sophomore Laura Hartman finished tied for 199th with a time of 25:27, with senior Michele Stromberg rounded out the Sea Gull effort with a time of 25:52 in 225th.
