Women's cross country tabbed to finish third in 2017

FREDERICKSBURG, Va. – The Salisbury University women's cross country team was picked to finish third in the Capital Athletic Conference preseason poll released on Thursday afternoon.

The Sea Gulls received 69 points and two first-place votes among the coaches in the conference.

York College of Pennsylvania was picked to repeat as conference champions, as the Spartans received 76 points and six first-place votes, while Christopher Newport University was second with 73 points and two first-place votes. Following Salisbury, the University of Mary Washington was fourth with 58 points, while Marymount (Va.) University was fifth with 39 points.

The women's team will look to senior Alison Schwartz and junior Fiona Halloran to lead the way in 2017.

The Sea Gulls will open the 2017 season on September 2 when they host the annual Fall Classic at Winter Place Park starting at 9:45 a.m.
