SALISBURY, Md. – At every Salisbury University sports event athletic trainers are there to help the student-athletes. March is National Athletic Training Month and to celebrate, the Salisbury University athletic trainers are helping even more people.
This month, the group will be running a canned food drive to benefit the Maryland Food Bank. The athletic trainers are no stranger to helping the community as they have run a holiday canned food drive over the past years.
Items for the food drive can be dropped off at the Athletic Training Office inside Maggs Physical Activities Center or can be brought to the home athletic events this weekend as the baseball team hosts a three-game series on Friday and Saturday, while women’s and men’s lacrosse will have a home doubleheader at Sea Gull Stadium on Saturday afternoon.
Athletic trainers are licensed health care providers that specialize in the treatment and rehabilitation of physically active patients who have sustained injuries related to sports activities, and Salisbury’s program is one of the best in the nation, sending former students on to full-time jobs in collegiate and professional programs.
