Iosue, Levy named 2012-13 Salisbury Scholar-Athlete Award recipients

SALISBURY, Md. – Senior tennis player Elaina Iosue and senior baseball pitcher Andrew Levy have been named the 2012-13 Salisbury University Scholar-Athlete Award winners.

A four-year letterwinner and three-time All-CAC first team selection, Iosue has played primarily at No. 3 singles and No. 2 doubles so far this season.

Iosue has twice been named CAC Player of the Week and an Intercollegiate Tennis Association Academic All-American in 2011 and 2012. She is also a five-time member of the SU Dean's List.

A Damascus, Md., native, Iosue is a double major in political science and journalism with a 3.429 GPA, and is currently the treasurer of the Lambda Pi Eta National Honor Society for Communication majors, an organization she has been part of since 2010. She is a four-year member of the College Republicans and was the treasurer in 2011-12. Iosue has also been part of the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee and a Student Athlete Mentor since 2011.

Iosue has been a Staff Assistant/Chief Journalist for the Institute for Public and Civic Engagement (PACE) at SU since 2010. She has directed the Thanksgiving food drive in 2011 while volunteering at the Maryland Food Bank and the Humane Society of Salisbury for three years.

Levy has been of a part of Salisbury's trip to the 2011 NCAA College World Series, three NCAA tournament teams and one Capital Athletic Conference championship. He was an All-CAC First Team selection and was a second team all-region pick in 2012, and was tabbed as Player to Watch by Collegiate Baseball Newspaper heading into 2013.

A 3.545 GPA student in accounting, Levy has been named to the CAC All-Academic Team from 2010 through 2012. He was also named to the CoSIDA Capital One Academic All-District Team last season.

Levy, a Hampstead, Md., native, has been part of SAAC and a Student-Athlete Mentor since 2011. He also was a elementary school mentor from 2010 through 2011.

Levy spent the summer of 2012 as an intern at KPMG in Baltimore and has accepted a full-time position at the firm, beginning in October.
