SALISBURY, Md. – The men's and women's swimming teams of Salisbury University returned to action after a month-long hiatus when they hosted McDaniel College on Saturday afternoon. A late charge by the men's team helped secure a 101-101 tie, while the women's team fell to the Green Terror, 71-129.
Men
The men's team finished the afternoon with four individual first-place finishes to help earn the tie.
Josh Brown was the first to capture that feat when he finished the 50-meter freestyle in a time of 24.35 seconds.
Richard Baker finished the 100-meter backstroke to earn a first-place time of 1:01.99.
Peter Moyer earned his first-place finish two races later in the 400-meter freestyle, with a time of 4:31.41.
Kyle Russell rounded out the afternoon by earning a first-place finish in the 100-meter breaststroke, in a time of 1:10.97.
Conor Johnston, Brown, Baker, and Russell combined to earn a first-place finish in the 400-meter freestyle relay, with a time of 3:48.19. It was the final race of the day and helped propel the men to come from behind and capture the tie.
Women
The women's team capped off its afternoon by also securing a first-place finish in the 400-meter freestyle relay. Jordyn Rowe, Ellen Berry, Ali Johnston, and Angela Barzanti combined to finish with a time of 4:43.41.
Barzanti also earned a second-place finish in the 800-meter freestyle, with a time of 10:53.08.
A time of 2:44.13 helped Rowe capture an Individual second-place finish in the 200-meter individual medley.
Emma Tarnosky rounded out the day for the women's team by securing a second-place time of 1:12.23 in the 100-meter backstroke.
The teams will return to the pool next Saturday, January 13, when they host Capital Athletic Conference rival Mary Washington University. The meet is set to begin at 1 p.m.
