Men's, women's swimming defeat Penn State-Altoona

SALISBURY, Md. – The Salisbury University men's and women's swimming teams both earned victories over Penn State University-Altoona on Saturday afternoon. The men picked up a 132-56 win while the women defeated the Lions 108-43.

Men

The men started the afternoon with a victory in the 200-meter medley relay, as the team of Richard Baker, Kyle Russell, Peter Moyer, and Josh Brown finished in a time of 1:55.16.

Seven different men claimed individual victories for Salisbury. David Cairns brought home the first individual win of the day, touching the wall in 10:06.60 to claim first in the 800-meter freestyle.

Baker followed up Cairns with a win in the 200-meter freestyle, finishing in a time of 2:03.35.

Andrew Ward edged the competition in the 50-meter freestyle with a time of 25.53 seconds for first place.

Brown captured a convincing victory in the 100-meter IM, posting a time of 1:01.94.

Jake Ryan joined the action with a first-place finish in the 200-meter butterfly, finishing with a time of 2:23.25.

Brandon Hoagland also posted a first-place finish, touching the wall in 57.77 seconds to win the 100-meter freestyle.

Moyer claimed the final individual victory of the day for the men, finishing first in the 200-meter breaststroke with a time of 2:38.70.

Brown, Ward, Kai Busquets, and Moyer finished the afternoon with a victory in the 200-meter freestyle relay, finishing in a time of 1:48.08.

Women

The women began the day with a first-place finish in the 200-meter medley relay, as Natalie Eakin, Ryane Porter, Jordan DeGruchy, and Chase McClure teamed up to finish with a time of 2:18.45.

The women's team captured five individual victories of their own. Angela Barzanti got the action started with a win in the 800-meter freestyle, finishing in a time of 10:45.38.

Barzanti was followed by Mary Green, who finished first in the 200-meter freestyle with a time of 2:30.23.

Emma Tarnosky claimed a narrow victory in the 50-meter freestyle with a time of 30.53 seconds.

Jordyn Rowe also posted a first-place finish, with hers coming in the 100-meter IM with a time of 1:14.18.

Autumn Allen captured the final individual victory for the women, finishing first in the 200-meter breaststroke in a time of 3:08.27.

Porter, Green, Eakin, and Briya Cohen ended the day with a win in the 200-meter freestyle relay, finishing in a time of 2:00.96.

The men's and women's swimming teams have three weeks off until their next meet, when they travel to Widener University on Saturday, December 1 for a 1 p.m. meet.
