Sea Gull swim teams defeat Marymount

ARLINGTON, Va. – The Salisbury University men's and women's swimming teams traveled to take on Marymount (Va.) University on Saturday afternoon, with both teams collecting victories. The men defeated the Saints 139-60 while the women earned a 107-96 win.

Men

The men started the day with a win in the 200-yard medley relay, as the team of Richard Baker, Jeff Roman, Josh Brown, and Andrew Ward finished in a time of 1:41.32.

Peter Moyer earned the first individual victory of the day for the men, finishing first in the 1,000-yard freestyle with a time of 10:28.68. Moyer later collected his second victory with a convincing win in the 500-yard freestyle, posting a time of 5:03.22.

Jake Ryan followed up Moyer with a first-place finish in the 200-yard freestyle, touching the wall in a time of 1:54.45. Ryan later tallied his second victory of the day in the 100-yard butterfly, coming home in a time of 54.14 seconds.

Brown collected a victory in the 50-yard freestyle, posting a time of 22.11 seconds.

Baker also earned a first-place finish, with his coming in the 100-yard backstroke in a time of 56.68 seconds.

Kyle Russell finished the individual action with a win in the 100-yard breaststroke in a time of 1:02.17.

The men rounded out the day with a victory in the 200-yard freestyle relay, as Keaton Burke, Ryan, Moyer, and Russell finished in a time of 1:31.97.

Women

The women began the afternoon with a victory in the 200-yard medley relay, as the team of Ellen Berry, Allie Frick, Jordan DeGruchy, and Mary Green posted a time of 2:09.78.

Jordyn Rowe earned the first individual victory for the women, as she won the 100-yard IM in a time of 1:07.35.

DeGruchy placed first in the next event, the 100-yard butterfly, with a time of 1:07.62.

Rowe, Chase McClure, Maggie Giggey, and Natalie Eakin finished the day with a win in the 200-yard freestyle relay, posting a time of 1:47.36.

Eakin added two second-place finishes, with the first coming in the 50-yard freestyle with a time of 26.49 seconds and the second coming in the 100-yard backstroke in a time of 1:08.02.

McClure also added a second-place finish, finishing the 100-yard freestyle with a time of 58.65 seconds.

The men's and women's swimming teams have their final meet on Saturday, January 26 at 1 p.m. as they host St. Mary's College of Maryland.
