Men’s Swimming finishes perfect dual-meet season with Senior Day win over St. Mary’s

SALISBURY, Md. – The Salisbury University men's swimming team locked up its first undefeated dual-meet season in program history with a 184-75 victory over the St. Mary's Seahawks on Saturday. The 9-0 mark in duals bests the previous high in wins in a season at seven set during the 2007-08 season.

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • The Sea Gulls tallied 11 first-place finishes with nine individual race wins and a win in the 200-meter medley relay and the 400-meter free relay.
  • The 400-meter free relay team of Michael DeSimone, Christopher Knorr, Dominic Kazzi, and Mitchell McGee set a new Maggs Pool record with a time of 3:37.52. The time broke the previous mark set during the 2019-20 season by Mary Washington.
  • Kazzi and David Gardner led the swim team with two first-place finishes each. Gardner set new personal bests in wins in the 400- and 800-meter frees with times of 4:19.00 and 9:02.28 respectively. Kazzi recorded a new personal record with a gold in the 200 breast (2:33.89) and also touched the wall first in the 200 free (2:04.60).
  • Clayton Jameson placed in three events. Jameson won the 200 IM (2:20.48). He narrowly finished second in the 200 free with a time of 2:04.69, just .09 seconds from Kazzi's time. Jameson also placed second in the 200 back (2:25.25).
  • Robert Krouse won the 200 back (2:16.37) and finished second in the 200 IM (2:24.34).
  • McGee earned the gold in the 100 free (55.28) and added a third-place finish in the 50 free (24.68).
