CHESTERTOWN, Md. – The Salisbury University men's swim team controlled the meet against Washington (Md.) Saturday afternoon in the Casey Swim Center in Chestertown, Md. The Sea Gulls took home a Casey Swim Center pool record, their second straight win over the Shoremen, and their first program win in Chestertown.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Salisbury University men's swim team started the meet with a commanding performance, taking the top spot in the 400-yard medley relay. The relay team of Lucas Mitchell, Brady Wolf, Christopher Knorr, and Owen Brewer set the tone of the meet as their winning time of 3:31.94 established a new Casey Swim Center pool record.
- The Sea Gulls continued to show their strength as Matt Merke and Matthew Arter took home the top two spots in the 1,000-yard freestyle with times of 9:50.80 and 10:27.89, respectively.
- Justin Byrd and David Zea took home the top two spots for Salisbury in the 200-yard butterfly, with respective times of 2:00.97 and 2:02.61.
- Salisbury ended the meet the way they started it, taking the top spot of the podium, this time in the 400-yard freestyle relay. The team of Brewer, Byrd, Knorr, and Kyle Skelly finished first with a time of 3:14.17.
- The Sea Gulls finished the meet with 12 first-place finishes, nine second-place finishes, and seven third-place finishes.
UP NEXT
- The Sea Gulls return for their second home meet of the season as they welcome Rowan to the Maggs Pool on Saturday, Nov. 11.
- The meet is scheduled to begin at 1 p.m. in Salisbury, Md.
