SALISBURY, Md. – The top-ranked Salisbury University softball team took down the TCNJ Lions and Lynchburg Hornets on Friday to continue its hot start to the season and improve to 16-0 on the season. Salisbury earned a 5-2 win over TCNJ in the opener before
Madison Taylor pitched a one-hit shutout and
Lauren Meyers allowed Salisbury to walk off 1-0 winners in the tripleheader finale against Lynchburg. With the wins, Salisbury pushed its NCAA-leading home win streak to 71 consecutive games.
HOW IT HAPPENED – TCNJ
- TCNJ was caught napping on the base paths in the top of the first inning. Jillian Dawson doubled off Reina Jeronimo from first base on a fly ball to center field to end the inning.
- Salisbury broke the scoreless tie with aggressive baserunning in the third inning. Back-to-back infield singles by Lindsey Windsor and Maddison Lednum allowed Natalie Paoli and Windsor to score from second base to give SU the 2-0 lead.
- The Lions got a run back in the fourth inning when Camryn Kitchin hit an RBI single to score Kaci Neveling.
- However, Salisbury tacked on two runs in the bottom of the fifth. Lednum hit an RBI double to left center to score Windsor. Lauren Meyers followed with an RBI single to plate Meyers and push SU's lead to 4-1.
- After getting a lineout double play to end the top half of the sixth, Madi Lemon led off the bottom of the sixth with a home run over the left-center field fence to give SU insurance, 5-1.
- TCNJ was able to get another run across in the top of the seventh and was able to get the tying run to the plate. Windsor came in relief of Nicole Ortega in the seventh. Two pitches into her outing, Windsor induced a ground ball double play to end the game.
SALISBURY GAME NOTES VS. TCNJ
- Maddison Lednum drove in two runs on a pair of hits. She hit one of two extra-base hits of the game with her double in the fifth.
- Madi Lemon also collected two hits, including her first home run of the season in the sixth. It was her first home run since the 2021 season.
- Lindsey Windsor was 2-for-4 with two runs scored and an RBI. Windsor also earned her second save of the season in the win.
- Nicole Ortega (W, 7-0) allowed five hits, two runs (one earned) and a walk with a strikeout to record her seventh win of the season.
HOW IT HAPPENED – LYNCHBURG
- In her second career start, Madison Taylor effectively shut down the Lynchburg Hornets. Taylor got in trouble with two runners in scoring position in the first inning. However, Taylor struck out Herman to end the threat and strand the runners.
- Taylor and Lynchburg's Emily Charlton spun a gem throughout the nightcap. Salisbury finally broke through the deadlock in the bottom of the seventh inning. Lindsey Windsor began the seventh with a single up the middle. Windsor advanced to third on a sacrifice bunt by Maddison Lednum and a deep fly out to center field by Carrie Jacoby. On the first pitch she saw, Lauren Meyers roped the walk-off single off the left-field wall to score Windsor and keep the streak alive.

- Salisbury will be back in action tomorrow against Lynchburg and Swarthmore.
- The Sea Gulls begin the day with the Hornets at 11 a.m. before taking on the Garnet at 3 p.m.
