Swimming programs among most improved in Division III

SALISBURY, Md. – The Salisbury University men's and women's swim teams were recognized as one of the most improved programs in Division III, according to the SwimCloud rankings.

The two teams combined for a 177-spot improvement in the SwimCloud power rankings, which was the largest combined jump in the nation.

The men's swim team had the largest jump nationally between the 2022 and 2023 seasons. The men moved up 103 spots in the rankings from the 170th-ranked team to the 67th team in the country.
 

The women's swim team had the third-best improvement in Division III between the 2022 and 2023 seasons. The women jumped 74 spots in the rankings from 145th to 71st in the nation, according to the SwimCloud power rankings.
 

Both SU swim teams completed the best seasons in program history in the 2022-23 season. The men's team finished a perfect dual-meet season with a program record 9-0 overall record while the women nearly completed an undefeated mark with an 8-1 overall record to also set a program record.

After a fifth and seventh-place finish by the men and women at the 2023 Metropolitan Swimming Conference Championships, the SU swim teams are set to join the New Jersey Athletic Conference as affiliate members, effective with the 2023-24 academic year.

The Sea Gulls have celebrated 23 team national championships, 24 individual national champions, 196 conference championships and 44 Academic All-Americans.
