Men's Swimming earns a win over Frostburg State in Baltimore

BALTIMORE, Md. – The Salisbury University men's swimming team returns to Salisbury with a win against Frostburg State while falling to the hosts, UMBC.

  • UMBC defeats Salisbury, 149-56
  • Salisbury defeats Frostburg State, 137-68
 
HOW IT HAPPENED
  • While UMBC took the top two spots in the opening 200-yard medley relay, Salisbury finished in the next two spots above Frostburg State. The third-place finishing relay team for the Sea Gulls consisted of Lucas Mitchell, Gabriele Miksa, Owen Brewer, and Michael DeSimone.
  • Matt Merke earned an impressive win in the 1,000-yard freestyle, finishing nearly 10 seconds ahead of second place with a time of 9:51.85.
  • The 50-yard freestyle witnessed an exciting finish as DeSimone finished eight-hundredths of a second behind first place.
  • Christopher Knorr picked up a notable second-place finish in the 100-yard butterfly, sharing the podium with UMBC.
  • In the 100-yard breaststroke it was once again a Salisbury swimmer who found himself situated between two UMBC swimmers. Brady Wolf earned a second-place finish, finishing the event with a time of 1:00.34.
  • The Sea Gulls closed out the meet with a third-place finish in the 200-yard freestyle relay with the team of DeSimone, Brewer, Kyle Skelly, and Mark Dattilio.

  • Salisbury hosts Marymount for Senior Day on Friday, Jan. 26, at Maggs Pool.
  • The meet is scheduled to start at 3 p.m.
