WASHINGTON, D.C. – The ninth-ranked Salisbury University women's lacrosse team made a statement on Saturday afternoon, rattling off 11 consecutive goals to start the affair en route to a 14-1 victory over Catholic at Carlini Field.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Miranda Mears needed just 31 seconds to start the Salisbury scoring, burying a pass from Alexandra Parker to put the Sea Gulls in front. Mary Hanzsche notched a goal of her own 26 seconds later, putting the maroon and gold up by two in the opening minute.
  • Just over five minutes later, Camryn Pepper connected with Grace Doyle for the third Sea Gull goal of the quarter. Hanzsche set up Leah Vilov during a numbers advantage later in the quarter to give Salisbury a 4-0 advantage.
  • The scoring quieted for the duration of the first period, but SU wasted no time finding a rhythm in the second. Erin Scannell dished to Vilov for her second goal on Salisbury's first possession of the quarter, extending the margin to five.
  • Pepper linked with Mears for a man-up goal before sneaking a delivery from Scannell past the Catholic goalkeeper four minutes later, extending the lead to seven at the intermission.
  • SU rattled off four straight to open the third quarter. Pepper and Scannell picked up unassisted strikes before Pepper logged assists on goals by Doyle and Audrey Harrington, all in the frame's first eight minutes.
  • The Cardinals broke up the shutout with five minutes left in the third quarter, but Salisbury added insurance in the fourth by way of three man-up scores. Kiersten Hartman fed Harrington with just over 11 minutes to go, while Regan McDonnell and Ellery Stamp combined for the team's 13th goal.
  • With just under two minutes remaining, the duo of Hartman and Harrington switched roles as Hartman neatly tucked Harrington's pass into the cage, sealing the 14-1 triumph.
