SALISBURY, Md. –
Heath Barringer has been named Salisbury University's Assistant Director of Athletics for Communications and Sports Information, announced by the athletic department on Wednesday morning. Barringer joins SU after spending over two years as the Sports Information Director at Meredith College.
"We are thrilled to welcome Heath Barringer to our Sea Gull Athletic Family," said
Monica Polizzi, SU director of athletics and campus recreation. I am confident in his ability to tell our story and showcase all the great things our students do athletically, academically and in the community."
Barringer will oversee all media and communications functions of the department, helping to tell the SU story through athletics including coverage of all 23 NCAA Division III varsity sports. His responsibilities include developing and implementing department-wide communications and marketing plans, recruiting and supervising all media and communications staff and the statistical tracking and reporting of all intercollegiate athletic events.
"I am extremely grateful to join the Sea Gull Athletic Department," said Barringer. "I am honored to join one of the top NCAA Division III schools in the country led by an incredible staff. I would like to thank Monica Polizzi and Jess Stoltz for giving me this opportunity and I am beyond excited to get started!"
While at Meredith, Barringer provided play-by-play and color commentary for various sports while creating all social media graphics and serving as the primary contact for all sports. He also oversaw the website redesign process while upgrading the department's broadcasting capabilities, and this spring received the Jackie Myers Inspiration Award, honoring the school's former athletic director who overcame cancer and now resides in the USA South Hall of Fame.
Before his time with the Avenging Angels, Barringer worked as a Sports Information Graduate Assistant at Averett University. He has also served as a Sports Communication Intern at Wingate University and worked as a Football Analyst on ESPN3, covering both home and road games for the Wingate football program.
Barringer earned a Bachelor's in Communication and Media Studies with a minor in Sports Broadcasting at Wingate in 2020 before completing his Master's of Business Administration with a specialization in Leadership at Averett in 2022.
