No. 7 Baseball freezes out Valley Forge, 25-2

SALISBURY, Md. – The seventh-ranked Salisbury University baseball team opened a four-game, three-day weekend with a powerful offensive exhibition, swinging through the Valley Forge Patriots, 25-2 in seven innings, on Friday afternoon at Donnie Williams Sea Gull Baseball Stadium.

The Sea Gulls got on the board early and often in the first inning. After back-to-back walks to lead off, Danny Sheeler doubled home a run and Dylan Winebrenner tripled home two more. Winebrenner in turn scored on a sac fly by Noah Burroughs that put SU up 4-0. After three more runs came in on an assortment of walks, hit batsmen, and sac flies, Sheeler ripped another double to drive in two more and Winebrenner's RBI two-sacker made it 10-0.

SU plated four more in the second, then in the third Jackson Inman started a five-run rally with a solo homer as the lead eventually ballooned to 19-0. UVF scratched across a run each in the fourth and fifth, which the Sea Gulls countered with one in the fourth, two in the fifth, and three in the sixth to give the game its final 25-2 margin.
