No. 7 Women’s Lacrosse bests Warren Wilson, advances to C2C Championship

SALISBURY, Md. – The top-seeded and seventh-ranked Salisbury University women's lacrosse team carved out its place in Saturday's Coast-to-Coast Athletic Conference (C2C) Championship game, earning a 23-1 win over Warren Wilson in the semifinals on Wednesday afternoon.

The Sea Gulls (13-4, 2-0 C2C) opened the game with a 3-0 blitz of the Owls before the visitors netted their lone goal of the contest through not quite five minutes. SU rattled off 20 unanswered goals across the remainder of the tilt to wrap up the 23-1 triumph.

GAME NOTES
  • Ally Mathis tallied four points on two goals and a pair of helpers while also causing two Owl miscues.
  • Liz Haney matched the team-high four points on four assists while committing zero turnovers.
  • Audrey Harrington, Audrey Mumford and Leah Doy each collected three points, with each member of the trio scoring twice and adding one assist.
  • Keira Dunn dished out a pair of helpers and scored while piling up three ground balls, two caused turnovers and one draw control.
  • Kendall Murphy stuffed the stat sheet with game-highs in draw controls (6) and caused turnovers (3) while placing both her shots in the back of the net and adding two ground balls.
  • Olivia Fitzsimmons scooped three grounders and caused two turnovers while adding a goal and an assist.
  • Amelia Skinner scored twice on two shots and secured three draw controls.
  • Jaclyn Bange (2-0) earned the win, making one save in the opening 30 minutes. Ryleigh Cunnane locked down the final 30 minutes of action for Salisbury.
With Wednesday's win, the Sea Gulls will compete for the 23rd conference championship in program history on Saturday, hosting the winner of Wednesday's second semifinal bout between second-seeded CNU and third-seeded Mary Washington. More information on Saturday's game will be released in the coming days.
