The Rundown

The seventh-ranked Salisbury University baseball team stands just two wins from a fourth trip to the College World Series in five seasons. The Sea Gulls will host a best-of-three Super Regional series against the Messiah Falcons as part of the 2025 NCAA Division III Baseball Tournament. All three games will be played in Salisbury on Friday, May 23 and Saturday, May 24 inside Donnie Williams Sea Gull Baseball Stadium.

Hosting its first NCAA Regional since 2019, top-seeded Salisbury left no doubt by sweeping all three games by a combined score of 39-8.
In Friday's opener against fourth-seeded JWU (Providence), the Sea Gulls busted things open with an eight-run seventh inning on the way to a 12-2 win. Danny Sheeler drove in three runs on the day, while Dylan Winebrenner and Noah Burroughs each cracked home runs.
SU kept things rolling against second-seeded Baldwin Wallace on Saturday, pounding out 23 hits and storming into the regional final 15-5. The Sea Gulls went yard five times on the day, with Sheeler, Winebrenner, Burroughs, Max Ehrhardt, and Trent Waire each leaving The Nest.
Salisbury faced BW again in the regional finals on Saturday and scored nine runs over the final two innings to clinch the title 12-1. Waire homered for the second straight game, Burroughs drove in four runs, and starter Aidan Brinsfield went eight innings of one-run, three-hit ball.
Waire was named Most Outstanding Player of the Salisbury Regional after batting .727 with two doubles, two homers, five RBIs, and six runs scored.
Brinsfield (8 IP, 1 R), Ehrhardt (.500, 6 R), and Sheeler (.545, 8 RBI) joined Waire on the Salisbury Regional All-Tournament Team.
The regional title marks the fifth straight for Salisbury and the 10th in program history (2001, ‘04, ’11, ‘14, ’15, ‘21, ’22, ‘23, ’24, ’25)
Catcher Dylan Winebrenner was named C2C Player of the Year, the fifth straight Salisbury player (Meekins, Caster, Sheeler, Kell) to win the honor.
Outfielder Noah Burroughs became the second straight Sea Gull (Cole Williams) to earn C2C Rookie of the Year.

The 2025 NCAA Super Regionals will mark the 10th time in program history Salisbury has hosted a national postseason round, with games played at the old SU Baseball Field, Arthur W. Perdue Stadium, and Donnie Williams Stadium.
SU is hosting the Super Regionals for the fourth straight year, as well as both Regionals and Super Regionals for the first time in program history.
The Sea Gulls are 13-13 over 26 games in national tournament home games dating back to 1978, including 7-3 over the past four years.

Scouting Report

Messiah Falcons [NPI: 48th]

Messiah (34-14) qualified the NCAA Tournament for the first time since 2012 and sixth time in program history.
The Falcons swept the Middle Atlantic Conference Commonwealth semifinals against Widener and bested York (Pa.) two games to one in the league championship.
As the three seed in the Ashland, Va. Regional, MU bashed second-seeded hosts Randolph-Macon 15-0 on Friday before topping fourth-seeded Methodist 6-3 on Saturday and 9-2 on Sunday, capturing its first-ever regional championship.
Three Falcons earned major MAC Commonwealth postseason awards: Evan Wagaman (Player of the Year), Zachary Harris (Rookie of the Year), and head coach Phill Shallenberger (Coach of the Year).
Outfielder Wagaman earned his fourth career All-MAC Commonwealth nod by slashing .343/.455/.674 with 52 runs, 13 doubles, 6 triples, 11 home runs, 57 RBIs, 30 stolen bases, and a 1.129 OPS.
Right-hander Harris immediately established himself as an elite swingman for Messiah, making 14 appearances (nine starts) and going 7-2 with a team-best 3.43 ERA, 67 strikeouts, and just 11 walks over 60.1 innings.

Salisbury leads the all-time series over Messiah 3-1, including wins in each of the last two regular seasons.
Messiah hosted Salisbury in a regular season game on Apr. 9, with SU taking home a 7-1 victory behind 6.1 scoreless innings from Cole Williams. Last season the Sea Gulls beat MU at home, walking it off 4-3 in 12 innings on Mar. 13.
The teams also met in an NCAA Regional elimination game in 2012, with SU knocking out Messiah 9-3.

What's At Stake

The winner of the Salisbury Super Regional will join seven other clubs in the NCAA Division III Baseball Championship, which will be held on May 30-June 5 at Classic Park in Eastlake, Ohio.
The Sea Gulls are seeking to qualify for their ninth Division III World Series in program history and fourth in the past five seasons.
