2025 C2C Baseball Championship Preview

The Rundown

The seventh-ranked and top-seeded Salisbury University baseball team will stay home in pursuit of its fourth Coast-to-Coast Athletic Conference (C2C) championship in five years and 19th conference title overall. The Sea Gulls will host the 2025 C2C Tournament on Thursday, May 8, at Donnie Williams Stadium.

  • Mary Washington finished the regular season 25-12, going 3-1 against C2C foes with a split against SU and a sweep of CNU.
  • The Eagles received votes in recent D3baseball.com national polls.
  • UMW garnered three major C2C awards: Pitcher of the Year (Brendan McComber), Scholar-Athlete of the Year (Burke Steifman), and Coaching Staff of the Year (Kelly Swiney)
  • Eight Eagles made the All-C2C teams, including five First-Teamers and three Honorable Mentions.
  • Salisbury defeated UMW 7-4 at home on Apr. 13, while the Eagles got their revenge against SU in Fredericksburg, 4-3, on May 3.
  • Christopher Newport posted a 20-17 mark in the regular season, going 0-4 in league play by losing both pairs of games to SU and UMW.
  • The Captains opened the season at No. 11 nationally before dropping out of the D3baseball.com poll midseason.
  • CNU placed six players on the All-C2C teams, with four making the First Team and two Honorable Mentions.
  • Salisbury swept the season series over the Captains, winning 14-11 in Newport News on Apr. 5 and posting an 8-0 shutout at home on Apr. 27.

What's At Stake

  • Due to the C2C only fielding three baseball teams, the winner of the C2C Tournament will not receive an automatic bid to into the NCAA Tournament. C2C member schools will need a Pool B or Pool C at-large bid to make the field.
  • The Division III selection show is scheduled for Monday, May 12 at 12 p.m. on NCAA.com.
