SALISBURY, Md. – The Salisbury University women's tennis team opened its 2026 season with a close 4-3 loss to the Stevens Ducks on Saturday afternoon at the SU Outdoor Tennis Center.
MATCH NOTES
- The Sea Gulls dropped the doubles point despite the winning efforts of Gibelle Beaujon and Cleo Solomon in first doubles; the pair bested Alix Dry and Kaylee Hobbick 7-5.
- Olivia Hall jousted her way to a 6-4, 6-4 victory over Lorena Piegas in third singles.
- Ridgley Lake sweated out a three-set win in fifth singles, topping Gigi Arenas 6-0, 2-6, 7-5.
- Solomon was awarded a victory in second singles following her opponent's retirement from the match, which was even at 1-6, 6-1 after two sets.
- Beaujon endured a narrow three-set defeat to Dry in first doubles at 2-6, 7-6, 7-6.
Sunday's home matchup against Goucher has been postponed due to illness within the Goucher team. The Sea Gulls will return to the court next Sunday, Feb. 22, at home against Catholic with first serve slated for 12 p.m.
