Women’s lacrosse closes in on top seed; Baseball returns to top 10

SALISBURY, Md. – Presenting Roadie Joes Rankings for the fifth Wednesday in April, spotlighting top-10 positioning for women's lacrosse, men's lacrosse, and baseball.
 
Women's Lacrosse – 2nd | Division III Women's Lacrosse NPI, Apr. 27
Salisbury (16-0) upped its NCAA Power Index metric to 76.791, squarely in second between top-ranked Middlebury (79.167) and third-ranked Tufts (73.344). SU also slotted second in the USA Lacrosse Magazine rankings and jumped to No. 3 in the IWLCA rolls.
 
The Sea Gulls closed out an undefeated regular season on Saturday with a 15-9 triumph over No. 21 Christopher Newport. Grace Doyle and Paige Ellis secured Coast-to-Coast Athletic Conference (C2C) Offensive and Defensive Player of the Week honors, respectively, giving the maroon and gold 15 of a possible 22 recurring conference honors for the season.
 
SU will host the winner of Wednesday's CNU-Mary Washington game in the C2C Championship on Saturday, with opening draw control from Sea Gull Stadium pegged for 1 p.m.
 
Men's Lacrosse – 5th | USILA Division III Coaches' Poll, Apr. 27
Salisbury rose two slots from seventh to fifth in the coaches' rankings, earning 387 points to land between No. 4 Babson (439) and No. 6 York (Pa.) [372]. SU also moved up to fifth in the USA Lacrosse Magazine poll and landed eighth in the latest NPI.
 
The Sea Gulls wrapped up the regular season by retaining the Charles B. Clark Cup and ousting Washington College 6-4 in Friday's War on the Shore. Matt Sentowski registered 10 saves on the way to picking up Coastal Lacrosse Conference (CLC) Defensive Player of the Week laurels.
 
Locked into the two-seed in the conference tournament, SU will host third-seeded Stockton in the CLC semifinals on Wednesday at 5 p.m. The winner will advance to face either top-seeded CNU or fourth-seeded Mary Washington in the CLC Championship on Sunday.
 
Baseball – 7th | D3baseball.com/NCBWA Top 25, Apr. 28
Salisbury vaulted back into the top 10, rising from 12th to seventh with 428 points, leapfrogging No. 8 Johns Hopkins (410) and nipping on the heels of No. 6 Shenandoah (434). SU also ascended from 17th to 10th in the NPI metric, up 26 slots over the past two weeks.
 
The Sea Gulls opened the regular season's final week by besting Hood 11-1 in eight innings. SU will battle Immaculata at home on Wednesday at 3:30 p.m. and close out at home against Cairn on Saturday at 1 p.m. The C2C Tournament will begin with the semifinals next Thursday at a time and location to be determined.
