AMBLER, Pa. – Behind another outstanding start from emerging ace
Aidan Brinsfield, the 12th-ranked Salisbury University baseball team swept its two-game season series with the Arcadia Knights, winning 8-1 on Tuesday afternoon at Skip Wilson Field.
The Sea Gulls wasted no time going in front as
Nathan Tondreault led off the game with a double and eventually scored on a sac fly by
Conner Seeley. Then in the second inning, Tondreault returned the favor with his own sac fly that opened up a three-run push, followed by a
Jay Newton plunking with the bases loaded and a passed ball that let
Max Ehrhardt score and put SU on top 4-0.
The Knights scratched an unearned tally across in the home second on a bad pickoff move, but Brinsfield settled in from there and kept the home side off the board through the rest of his seven frames. In the meantime, Salisbury tacked on a run each in the fifth, sixth, and seventh, behind a
Trent Waire squeeze bunt and RBI knocks by Newton and Tondreault to make it 7-1.
Tondreault added one more rib-eye single in the ninth for good measure, more than enough for the one-two bullpen punch of
Cole Williams and
Bryce Sterling to close the book on an 8-1 victory.
