Baseball scores high NPI mark, earns Regional hosting rights

SALISBURY, Md. – Presenting Roadie Joes Rankings for the second Wednesday in May, featuring an NCAA Tournament selection for Salisbury University baseball.
 
Baseball – 7th | Division III Baseball NPI, May 10
Salisbury (32-9) moved up from eighth to seventh in the NCAA Power Index (NPI) selection rankings, posting a 60.651 metric to land between Shenandoah (61.318) and Tufts (60.579). SU enters the field with the third-best score of an at-large qualifier and was one of three Coast-to-Coast Athletic Conference (C2C) teams to make the field.
 
The Sea Gulls won their fifth C2C championship in six years, overcoming ninth-inning deficits to defeat both Christopher Newport in the semifinals and Mary Washington in the finals. Mickey Haynes drove in the winning run in the 10th inning of Saturday's title game, earning C2C Tournament MVP honors to boot.
 
SU enters its 26th consecutive NCAA Tournament boasting a 12-game winning streak and will host the Regional round for the second straight season. The four-team three-day double-elimination pod opens on Friday at 10 a.m. with the Sea Gulls taking on Bridgewater State, followed by a bout between Mount Union and Hobart.
