Baseball climbs to No. 17 in poll

MINNEAPOLIS – The National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association and released its national poll for the week ending on March 3, and the Salisbury University baseball team has moved up three spots to No. 17.

The Sea Gulls (5-2-1) went 2-1 over the past week, with both wins coming in a Saturday doubleheader against then No. 15-ranked Oswego State University. Salisbury now holds a 2-1-1 record against ranked opponents in 2019.

Wooster College remains atop the national poll for the second straight week, receiving 15 of a possible 25 first-place votes. Rowan University hangs tight at No. 2 with seven first-place votes. Capital Athletic Conference rival Christopher Newport University jumps up four spots to No. 3 while receiving one first-place vote after starting the season 8-0. Trinity (Texas) University and Swarthmore College round out the top five.

Salisbury takes on Virginia Wesleyan University at home on Tuesday afternoon at 2 p.m., then returns Thursday to host Neumann University with a 3 p.m., start time.
