FREDERICKSBURG, Va. – The Capital Athletic Conference announced its weekly baseball awards on Monday and for the second time in 2019 Salisbury University junior Clayton Dwyer was named the league's Pitcher of the Week.
Dwyer earned the honor after a complete-game victory against the University of Mary Washington on Saturday as part of a CAC opening weekend sweep of the Eagles. Dwyer allowed just three hits and two runs – one earned – in his second complete game of the year. The Laurel, Maryland native struck out six and walked just one on his was to his third victory of the year.
This season, Dwyer has posted a 2.43 earned-run average over 40 2/3 innings pitched, striking out 37 in that time.
The Sea Gulls return to action on Tuesday, March 19 at Neumann University, taking on the Knights at 3:30 p.m.
