SALISBURY, Md. – The organizations D3baseball.com and the American Baseball Coaches Association released their weekly national rankings on Tuesday afternoon. Salisbury University was recognized by both organizations, jumping to No. 16 in the ABCA poll and No. 18 in the D3baseball.com poll.
The Sea Gulls (14-4-1) swept Capital Athletic Conference opponent Frostburg State University last weekend to move to 6-0 in conference play and extended their current winning streak to eight games.
In the D3baseball.com poll, CAC rival Christopher Newport University moves into the top spot with 613 points and receiving 16 first-place votes. Concordia University-Chicago jumps up two spots to No. 2 with 584 points and four first-place votes. Trinity College (Texas) falls two spots to No. 3 with 544 points and four first-place votes. Swarthmore College and Texas Lutheran University both jump three spots to round out the top five.
Concordia and Christopher Newport swap the top two spots in the latest ABCA poll, with the Cougars earning 471 points and the Captains receiving 440 points. Trinity (Texas) earned 423 points, Swarthmore earned 406, and California Lutheran University earned 381 points to round out the top five.
The Sea Gulls return to action on Saturday, March 30 when they travel to take on CAC opponent Penn State University-Harrisburg in a three-game weekend series beginning at 12 p.m.
