Baseball lands at No. 6 in latest poll; up to No. 8 in ABCA poll

SALISBURY, Md. – and the American Baseball Coaches Association released their weekly rankings on Tuesday morning, and Salisbury University continued its ascension in both polls, reaching No. 6 in the poll and No. 8 in the ABCA poll.

The Sea Gulls (32-6-1) continued their torrid pace to the finish line by winning their final six Capital Athletic Conference regular season contests and extending their current winning streak to 12 games. The team was also able to clinch the top seed in in the upcoming conference tournament after sweeping Southern Virginia University (14-15) over the weekend.

CAC opponent Christopher Newport University (30-5) continued its hold on the No. 2 spot in both polls despite dropping a contest to conference opponent Penn State University-Harrisburg (28-10-1) over the weekend and falling to the second seed for the CAC tournament.

Salisbury returns to action when it opens CAC tournament play at home on Friday, May 3. The team will host fourth seed Penn State-Harrisburg and either Southern Virginia or the University of Mary Washington. The final two seeds of the tournament will be locked following the completion of a three-game series between the Knights and Frostburg State University later this week.
