SALISBURY, Md. -- Salisbury University seniors Dan Griffin and Jeremy Harrissmith were named to the Capital One Academic All-District Team for football, the College Sports Information Directors of America announced Thursday.
To be eligible for nomination, a student-athlete must have a minimum 3.30 grade-point average and be a starter or key reserve on his team.
Griffin, Salisbury's starting quarterback, who carries a 3.4 GPA in physical education, has gained 518 yards rushing and 10 TDs in nine games to go along with being 38-for-68 with 666 yards and six TDs passing.
Harrissmith, the Sea Gulls' starting left guard, is a corporate finance major with a 3.6 GPA. He has seen action in eight games this season and helped SU gain a season-high 611 yards in a 63-23 win against Utica College last Saturday. The offensive line was named Beyond Sports Network Division III Offensive Line of Week for its efforts.
Griffin and Harrissmith is now eligible for Capital One Academic All-America status to be announced at a later date.
Salisbury (7-2, 5-1 Empire 8), which claimed the league's automatic qualification to the NCAA tournament, will close out the regular season against Frostburg State University in the 14th annual Regents Cup Game this Saturday at 1 p.m.
