PITMAN, N.J. - Salisbury University football junior Christian Wilson has already made an impact on the New Jersey Athletic Conference, earning NJAC Defensive Player of the Week for the first week of the season, the league announced on Sunday.
Wilson made his presence known from all over the field during the Sea Gulls' 24-23 loss at Albright College on Friday night, including picking off two Mike Knight passes on consecutive drives in the first half. With 1:26 left in the first half, Wilson halted the Lions at their own 23-yard line, setting up a Salisbury touchdown to build its first-half lead to 23-3.
On the next drive, Wilson tallied his second interception with 13 seconds left in the half to secure the 20-point halftime lead for the Gulls.
He also notched six solo tackles on the day, including one for loss.
The Sea Gulls head into a bye week, before returning to action on Saturday, September 19 on the road against Montclair State University; the kickoff is set for 1 p.m.
