VIDEO: Football takes down Captains on Homecoming

Oct 7, 2017

The Salisbury University football team picked up a key 17-7 New Jersey Athletic Conference victory on Homecoming at Sea Gull Stadium against Christopher Newport University on Saturday, October 7. Salisbury’s defense dominated throughout, allowing just seven points for the second-straight game, swarming to the ball and holding the Captains to just 289 yards, which is 58 yards shy of their season average. Dakarai Ellis led the defensive effort with a season-high 12 tackles while Tom Montag recorded 11 stops. Christopher Newport entered as the top passing team in the NJAC, but the Sea Gulls broke up seven CNU passes, including this big break up on fourth-down in the third quarter, and came up with three sacks, including this game-sealing solo sack from senior Malik Hollings Alex Potocko’s 34-yard field goal gave Salisbury the lead, and the rushing attack got the final 14 points for the Sea Gulls. Brady Curley rushed for a game-best 99 yards on 17 carries and one score. Dandre Dennis went for the Sea Gulls’ other touchdown, while Ryan Kolb had 58 yards on the ground. The Sea Gulls return to action next Saturday, October 14, when they travel to Montclair State University.
