MINNEAPOLIS – The organization D3football.com released its 2018 All-East Region Team on Monday morning and Salisbury football had three players earn recognition as they were honored as some of the best players in the region.
Andrew Houck led the group being named to the First Team Offense as a guard. Houck finished the season as the Sea Gulls top offensive lineman helping pave the way for the nation's top rushing attack as the Gulls racked up 3,834 yards on the ground for an average of 348.5 yards per game in 2018.
Joining Houck on the list of offensive honorees was Kadarrius Campbell, who was named to the third team. Campbell finished the season as the maroon and gold's leading rusher racking up 855 yards on the ground, averaging 77.7 yards per game and a 6.1 yard per carry mark while scoring a team-high 10 touchdowns.
Defensively Shane Gaines was the lone honoree for Salisbury as he was named to the Third Team Defense. Gaines was a corner stone piece of the Sea Gull secondary and defense totaling 39 tackles including 26 solo while intercepting three passes and adding in six pass break ups and one blocked kick.
The teams, selected in balloting by East Region sports information directors and D3football.com staff, were chosen from 328 nominations by full Division III member schools. A total of 78 players were chosen. Players nominated for All-Region are eligible to be considered for D3football.com All-America honors, which will be announced the evening of Dec. 14, in D3football.com's pregame coverage for Stagg Bowl XLV.
