Football releases 2019 regular season slate

SALISBURY, Md. – The Salisbury University football team announced its 2019 schedule on Thursday.

Salisbury will open the 2019 schedule with a road contest against the Albright Lions on Friday, Sept. 6. It is the fifth consecutive year that the Sea Gulls open the regular season with the Lions with both teams trading victories on their home turf. Salisbury picked up a dominating 48-14 victory over Albright a season ago.

Salisbury plays Week 2 and 3 at home against a pair of first-time opponents. The 2019 home opener is set for Saturday, Sept. 14 at noon against the Wisconsin-Oshkosh Titans. Salisbury will then take on the Central International Cardinals on Sept. 21 with a 1 p.m. kickoff.

After a bye week, Salisbury begins New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC) play on Oct. 5 when they travel to the outskirts of New York City to battle the Montclair St. Redhawks.

The Sea Gulls then return home for back-to-back weeks, starting with Wesley making the short trip down Route 13 on Oct. 12 before celebrating Homecoming 2019 on Oct. 19 against the Rowan Profs. Both games are slated for a 1 p.m. start at Sea Gull Stadium.

Following a road contest on Oct. 26 at Kean, Salisbury wraps up the home portion of their schedule on Nov. 2 when the maroon and gold host the Christopher Newport Captains. The Senior Day game is set for a 1 p.m. kickoff.

Salisbury finishes the 2019 season with a pair of road games in New Jersey against the TCNJ Lions on Nov. 9 at 2 p.m. and the William Paterson Pioneers on Nov. 16 at 1 p.m.

The 2018 team finished the season with an 8-3 overall record and a 7-2 mark in the NJAC. The Sea Gulls concluded the season with an appearance in the Eastern College Athletic Conference Asa S. Bushnell Bowl, their 15th consecutive season with a postseason bid.
