Football among nation's best in, AFCA Top 25

SALISBURY, Md. – The Salisbury University football team sits in the Top 20 in both the and American Football Coaches Association (AFCA) polls.

Even though Salisbury was idle the past two weeks, the maroon and gold cracked the Top 15 for the first time this season in the Top 25 in the 15th spot while AFCA Coaches' Poll has the Sea Gulls ranked 16th in the country. Mary Hardin-Baylor and Mount Union hold the top two spots in both national polls.

Heading into New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC) play. Salisbury and Wesley remain the lone schools from the conference that are ranked in both polls. Wesley nabbed 10th in the AFCA poll and 12th in the poll. Wisconsin-Oshkosh, who was defeated 24-19 in Salisbury's last contest on Sept. 14, are among the teams receiving votes in the AFCA poll.

Salisbury opens the NJAC slate on Saturday, Oct. 5 when they take on the Montclair St. Red Hawks at 12 p.m.
